Man's body recovered from river Usk in Brecon

An investigation has been launched after a man’s body was recovered from the river Usk in Brecon.

Dyfed-Powys Police and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service had been searching the banks of the river Usk, from Llanfaes Bridge to the A40 Brecon bypass, from just after 12 noon.

A police spokeswoman said: "Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating the sudden death of a man, whose body was recovered from the river in Brecon this afternoon."

The Welsh Ambulance Service said it attended to reports of a man in difficulty in the water.

The fire service confirmed the operation had come to an end at 1.32pm.

Volunteers from the Brecon Mountain Rescue Team had been searching the river in kayaks.
