A Conservative councillor is facing a three month ban from Powys council after he was found to have breached its code of conduct.
Councillor Gary Price was found to have brought the council into disrepute by misrepresenting a council employee grievance panel hearing.
The council’s own standards committee had suspended Cllr Price for five months in November but he appealed to the independent Adjudication Panel for Wales.
After a hearing lasting two days in Llandrindod Wells the panel today recommended, to the council standards committee, that Cllr Price be suspended for three months.
The decision isn’t binding on the standards committee.
The panel chair, Claire Jones said the council’s panel had not had the benefit of hearing some of the mitagating factors she and her colleagues heard.
She also said Cllr Price had made it very clear during this week’s hearing he "very much regretted" what had happened and his intention to send letters of apology to two councillors.
