Mewla Rally and Mini Mewla Rally entries now open

By Brecon and Radnor Reporter in Motorsport

WE are pleased to announce that the Regulations for this year’s Old Forge Garage Mewla Rally in association with Brian Dennis Motorsport and the Rally Marketing Mini Mewla Rally, sponsored by our long time supporter Rally Marketing of Welshpool are now available on our Website

The event will change format to previous years as we look forward to 65 Stage Miles across 12 stages held on both new stage layouts over the Epynt Military Ranges and the Royal Welsh Showground. The whole event is to be based at the Showground including Service Area and Rally Village. The stages on the showground were last part of the Mewla in the late 1990’s and this year will make a welcome return providing an exciting spectacle for the Spectators and Service Crews, this combined with new stage layouts on the Epynt Ranges should make this a unique, fun, challenging and enjoyable event for crews

To try and keep costs down for crews this year there will be no Reconnaissance.

The rally is a qualifying round of the JD Tyres Welsh National Tarmacadam Championship, Hirefit King of Epynt and the Motordrive Seats ANWCC Stage Rally Championship

The winning crew of the Road Rally Class on this years Old Forge Garage Mewla Rally will receive a free entry on the 2017 DG Jones Agri Ltd Powys Lanes Rally. The event, which is also organised by Epynt Motor Club, will be held on November 4/5th. It will be based in Builth Wells with a 110 mile route on local maps and is part of the WAMC Basic Roamer Road Rally Championship.

This year we are running alongside the main event, the Rally Marketing Mini Mewla Rally, sponsored by our long time supporter Rally Marketing of Welshpool.

This event is aimed at the clubman with 20 Stage Miles over 8 Stages on the Royal Welsh Showground for 2WD cars only, spaces for the Mini Mewla Rally are limited to 30 entries with an entry fee of £170.

We are also looking for Marshals to help run this event if anybody is interested please get in touch with the Chief Marshal: Geoff Harper - 07791 415471.
