Tremendous support for inaugural tractor run

By Brecon and Radnor Reporter in Farming

THERE was a tremendous turnout of spectators, as well as tractors of all shapes and sizes, for the inaugural Nantmel Tractor Run organised by the newly formed Tractor Enthusiasts of Nantmel (T.E.N)and run in aid of Cancer Research UK. The Run started from the picturesque home of Alfred & Liz Lewis, Cefnllyn Farm, with Llyn Gwyn lake in the background. This was the ideal start venue as Liz is the chair of the Rhayader branch of Cancer Research UK group.

Tractors came from all over the local surrounding area but also from as far afield as Bristol, Bridgnorth, Llandovery, Hereford and a series 1 Landrover from Bala.

The tractors toured the communities of Nantmel, Gwystre and Abbey Cwm-hir in the morning before having a dinner stop at Penbryncennau. Then on through the communities of Bwlch Y Sarnau before heading back to Nantmel, Gaufron and back to the start passing the south side of Llyn Gwyn lake. At the finish the tractor drivers were treated to a barbeque and the raffle was drawn. Everybody agreed what a fantastic run it had been and the T.E.N group would like to thank everyone for their support and the donations received. Next year’s route has already been planned.
