Brecon Corries grabbed a dramatic injury time equaliser at Goytre and Knighton Town hit five at Talgarth Town.

ARDAL LEAGUE NORTH EAST

Builth Wells will be disappointed at suffering a 4-2 defeat at home against Corwen in the Ardal league North East. With Corwen lying one from bottom, The Bulls would have been targeting three points but know there are no easy games in this league and they were below par on Saturday in what was only their second home defeat of the term. The visitors, who have strengthened in the transfer window, scored twice early on through Tom Williams and Owen Cordiner but Builth did well to hit back. Jamie Evans headed home from a Lyndon Jones corner and Richie Powell equalised after Jones had seen a free-kick parried. But Builth failed to carry that momentum over into the second half when Corwen deservedly took the spoils with further goals from Luke Appleby and Williams.

Caersws maintained top spot with a 4-3 verdict at Dolgellau where they had to stave off a spirited second half fightback. The Bluebirds were three up at half-time through two own goals from Jon Harisson and a Glynn Coney penalty. Dolgellau hit back through Rob Evans, Jake Jones and Daniel Thomas only to see substitute, Peter Rees snatch it for Caersws.

Bow Street are emerging as one of the main rivals for Caersws in the title race and they pulled off a fine 2-1 win at Cefn Albion. Jordan Johnson had given Albion an interval lead but the 78th minute sending off of Jordan Williams proved costly as John James and Rhydian Davies (pen) won it for Bow Street.

Llanfair United stemmed a run of defeats with a 2-2 draw against Penycae where new player-manager, Karl Seliaerts twice put them ahead from the penalty spot.

Llanrhaeadr’s recent winning run was halted as they went down 3-1 at home at the hands of Llangollen Town while Welshpool Town suffered a 5-2 home defat at the hands of Llanuwchllwyn with Will Thomas and Jamie Clewlow netting for the home side.

ARDAL LEAGUE SOUTH EAST

Brecon Corries collected a well deserved point in the Ardal League South East with Dale Evans grabbing a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw at Goytre on Friday night. Corries twice trailed but Nyle Slade netted his first senior goal and captain Evans struck deep in stoppage time.

For the second game in a row, Corries conceded an early goal with Jordan Needs scoring for Goytre on four minutes. The Brecon side, who had Joel Evans in goal, were back on level terms a minute into stoppage time at the end of the first half with Slade on target with the first of what manager, Damien Daniels hopes will be many goals for the club.

Goytre regained their lead with almost an hour played through Ross Davies, who returned from Abergavenny Town in the January transfer window. But Corries remained in the game with Evans leaving it late, salvaging a point five minutes into stoppage time.

Corries face another tough challenge this week-end when they welcome Trethomas Bluebirds to The Rich Field. Bluebirds stretched an impressive unbeaten run to eleven last Saturday reaching the semi-finals of the Dragon Signs FAW Amateur Trophy with a 1-0 win over Baglan Dragons.

MMP CENTRAL WALES LEAGUE (SOUTH)

Knighton Town made it three wins in a row in the MMP Central Wales League (South) with a 5-1 success at ten man Talgarth Town. The sides were playing the second of back to back fixtures and it was Talgarth who made the brighter start on Saturday with Conor O’Shea given them a 3rd minute lead. Jack Davies equalised on 35 minutes and Talgarth were down to ten men when Steve Potter picked up two yellow cards in quick succession just before half-time. They dug in after the break and there was little to choose between the sides until Sam Hoyle put Knighton ahead midway through the second half. Two goals in as many minutes from Joe Baker and Callum Stead then ended the game as a contest and substitute, Liam Blythe completed Knighton’s victory in stoppage time.

Presteigne St Andrews, like Talgarth, are struggling for results since moving up from the Mid Wales League (South) and were beaten 3-1 at home by Machynlleth. Jamie Blythe hit the post for Presteigne in the first minutes but Luke Vince-Holt gave Mach the lead following a corner and Iestyn Evans added a crucial second two minutes before half-time. Presteigne pressure finally paid off when Jaron Vaughan reduced the deficit on 79 minutes but  as they pushed for an equaliser, Dillon Brown clinched it with a third for the visitors.

In the other game at the week-end, Llanilar strengthened their hold on third spot with a 2-1 home win over Aberaeron. Llanilar, who have played more games than a number of teams just behind them scored in the first half through Ryan Hopkins and Kieron Reynolds with Keelan Noble reducing the deficit after the break.

MMP CENTRAL WALES LEAGUE (NORTH)

Kerry moved level on points with  Barmouth at the top of the MMP Central Wales League (North) with goals from Luke Mumford and Richard Davies securing a 2-0 win at For Crosses who had Archie Burton sent off.

Llansanttffrid Village maintained their challenge with Kieran Evans and Liam Pickstock each scoring twice in a 6-1 home success over Carno. Zack Davies and Matthew Williams were also on target before Sean Wild gained a consolation for Carno.

Charlie Humphreys, Greg Pryce and Dave Laird shared the goals as Abermule triumphed 3-1 at Tywyn Bryncrug while Bishops Castle extended their unbeaten run with Alex Jones (pen) and Toby Mills earning a 2-1 win over Dyffryn Banw.

A late equaliser from Luke Francis denied Berriew their first win of the season in a 2-2 draw at Trewern United. Berriew had twice led through Joe Evans and Phil Turnbull.

Owain Richards scored twice as Waterloo Rovers overcame Meifod 4-0 while Jake O’Donnell recorded the top individual feat of the day with a five goal haul in Forden United’s 7-1 victory over Llanfyllin Town.

CENTRAL WALES CUP

Llandrindod Wells bowed out of the Central Wales Cup following  2-0 defeat at the hands of Caersws last Wednesday night. It was the fourth meeting between the sides this time and Caersws have now won them all after two goals in three minutes early in the second half from Neil Mitchell proved the difference last week to settle an evenly contested tie on The Broadway

Bow Street are also through after a 3-2 extra-time  victory over Llanfair United at Latham Park. New player-manager, Karl Seliaerts gave Llanfair the lead with a free-kick midway through the first half but Ifan Burrell levelled after the break. Both sides were reduced to ten men at the end of normal time with Matt Spencer of Llanfair and Bow Street’s John James seeing red. The teams traded penalties in extra-time with Rhydian Davies and Seliaerts both scoring before Sion Ewart bagged Bow Street’s winner.

The draw for the Central Wales Cup quarter finals was made last week as follows:-

Ffostrasol v Llanidloes Town, Llansantfraid Village or Guilsfield v Abermule, Caersws v Newtown Development, Welshpool Town v Bow Street

WATSON FINANCIAL MID WALES LEAGUE (SOUTH)

It is as you were at the top of the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South) with Newcastle remaining top following a 1-1 draw at home against Hay St Marys.

Edgar Wateley headed Newcastle in front when Curt Pickford flicked on a corner but Dan Cornish levelled before half-time when his deflected cross sailed in. Hay probably had the better of the second half hitting the post twice while Newcastle ‘keeper, Phil Williams made a number of crucial saves in a man of the match display.

Felindre and St Harmon also drew 1-1 indicating how little there is to choose between the top four. Ryan Abel put St Harmon in front in the first half but Ieuan Davies equalised just after the break for draw specialists, Felindre.

Newcastle, the one remaining team from the Mid Wales League (South), have been drawn at home against Abermule Reserves in the semi-final of the new MWLS/Montgomery Inter league Cup. In the other tie, Waterloo Rovers Reserves face Llangedwyn.

FAW NATIONAL RESERVE LEAGUE CENTRAL

Llandrindod Wells suffered a 5-2 home defeat at the hands of leaders, Bow Street in the FAW National Reserve League Central on Sunday. But the Spa side gave a good account of themselves particularly in the first half when Darren Murphy put them in front. Tom Bates and Joseff Williams hit back for the visitors but Danny Hall squared it up from the penalty spot in first half stoppage time. Bow Street however regained their lead through Dylan James and further goals from Rhys Evans and Clint Middleton completed the win. Bow Street now need two points from their remaining three games to land the title although a superior goal difference suggests one point will suffice.

Llandrindod had also lost 6-2 defeat at Caersws last Monday night despite taking the lead through Murphy. Gareth Owen and Jared Marks had the host ahead by half-time and they raced away with Tomos Evans (2) and George Lister netting in the second half. Taylor Bradley gained a consolation for Llandrindod but Caersws had the last word with Tom Meredith competing their first win since August.

Rhayader Town were due to visit Llanidloes Town last night Tuesday while there was yet more frustration for Builth Wells whose game at Dolgellau on Sunday was postponed with The Bulls having trained and prepared for the trip.
