A man has been charged with murder and another has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm following the death of a middle-aged man in Kington.

Police said that the charges relate to an incident in Kington which lead to the death of 51-year-old Carl Dyche on December 2.

Luke Bellis of High Street, Kington, has been charged with murder.

The 29-year-old was due to appear before Kidderminster Magistrates Court yesterday - Tuesday, December 7.

Ajay Price, 19, who is also of High Street had previously been charged with murder and has been remanded in custody.

Meanwhile John Locke of Greenfields, Kington, was charged with grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident.

The 33-year-old appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on Saturday, December 4 - he was also remanded in custody.

West Mercia Police have not yet released any more information about the incident.

Following the death of Mr Dyche, the MP for North Herefordshire, Bill Wiggin, said he was shocked and saddened by the news.

He said: “The tragic death of Mr Dyche is a shocking and saddening one.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

“I would like to thank the emergency services and particularly the West Mercia Police for their swift and professional approach.

“They have been open and transparent about arresting people in connection with this act and have done their best to reassure local people about the unusual nature of this tragic occurrence.

“I understand that Safer Neighbourhood Officers will be patrolling the area daily to provide reassurance to the community.

“I feel that it is important to stress that these things do not happen often in our County and that when they do we are well served by our Police Officers.

“My thoughts go out to each and every one of those affected by this crime.”
