Brecon Mountain Rescue Team were called out yesterday evening to Waun Rhyd where a group of walkers and a dog found themselves in need of help.

They were well equipped but were without torches as darkness fell, so decided to call for help.

One of the group members reported an ankle injury, and that Alfie, the dog, had become cold, wet and exhausted.

The rescue team located the party and guided them off the hill, carrying Alfie in a rucksack with heat packs in to keep him warm and comfortable.

In line with veterinary advice, the rescue team provided Alfie with oxygen, warmed him up and gave him some pet food.

After that, the group set off on their journey home to Hampshire.

A spokesperson for Brecon Mountain Rescue Team said: "We wish them a safe journey home."
