TWO 18-year-olds have appeared in court charged with the serious assault of two teenagers in Sennybridge.

Jason John Anthony Paul Ferguson of Leighton Avenue, Layland and John Joseph Ward of Station Road, Oakley, Fife appeared before Brecon magistrates court on Saturday, August 1 after being charged with section 18 grievous bodily harm of 18-year-old Matthew Sherwood and a 16-year-old male, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

The incident took place shortly before 1am on Wednesday, July 29 at Defynnog Road, Sennybridge, near Brecon and the 16 year old victim remains in hospital in a serious condition and a family liaison officer is supporting his relatives. 18-year-old Mr Sherwood has been released from hospital.

At the hearing, Ferguson, represented by Graham Insley and Ward, represented by Gareth Walters, spoke only to confirm their names, addresses and dates of birth. No pleas were entered as the matter was so serious it could only be dealt with at the Crown Court and the matter was adjourned.

Both defendants were remanded in to custody and will next appear at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Friday, August 7.
