A St David's Day service in Cardiff at which John Davies, the Archbishop of Wales, was due to give an address has been cancelled because of the weather. The Archbishop was due to give at the parish church of St John the Baptist in the city centre.A mini-service led by Canon Sarah Rowland Jones will now be held instead at the church, at 10.45am, for anyone who turns up.The archbishop had intended to call on civic leaders from across Wales to follow the example of St David and create communities where people feel valued, secure and supported.
The annual service had been organised by the Lord Mayor of Cardiff.
Archbishop John, who is also the Bishop of Swansea and Brecon, was due to say: “St David founded communities where people worked, with whatever resources they had, to create trusting, supporting and lasting relationships in which everyone felt secure, supported and valued. It took ongoing hard work and a deal of self-discipline but his was, I believe, a model we would do well to emulate in our own communities today where some feel less than valued, vulnerable and insecure.”
