THIS year there were three recipients of the Builth Wells Rotary Community Service Awards. The awards are presented in respect of outstanding voluntary contributions to the community in Builth Wells and surrounding environs.
The three winners were Shaun Bailey, Peter James and David White.
Shaun has given his advice and encouragement for the past 10 years in his involvement with the Rotary Young Chef Competition. He is a lecturer within the NPTC Group of Colleges based at Newtown, where he has provided workshops on several occasions for the contestants.
Peter is proprietor of The Drovers Rest in Llanwrtyd Wells and has been committed to supporting the Rotary Young Chef Competition. He has been judging the Competition for the past 14 years. During this time he has provided mentorship to some of the contestants, some of which have secured employment at the restaurant over the years. He has also donated prizes for the students.
David is a talented musician and well respected in the area. He is always willing to go the extra mile to help students with their musical aspirations. He is a modest gentleman, who was reluctant to accept his award, saying he was only doing what he enjoyed.
