A body has been recovered from the river at Newbridge-on-Wye during the search for a man who has been missing since October.
Formal identification is yet to take place of the body, which was recovered yesterday afternoon.
However police have informed the family of Dilwyn Malcolm Williams, who went missing on Tuesday, October 16, of the discovery.
The 61-year-old was last seen alive at 1pm on the Tuesday as he was leaving his home in the village.
A police spokeswoman said Mr Williams’ family are being supported by specially trained officers.
The search, which was supported by the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service as well as the Mountain Rescue Team, has been suspended.
Detective Inspector Steve Lloyd said: "I must thank the community for their assistance in this matter and also thank our partners who assisted us in recovering the body as discreetly and respectfully as possible."
HM Coroner has been informed.
