COED Owen Bunkhouse has donated £200 to a charity in Wales which trains rescue dogs.

Coed Owen Bunkhouse is a barn that the Rees family rent out to holidaymakers on their farm in the Brecon Beacons.

The money donated by the family will be spent by the Search and Rescue Dogs Association (SARDA) on the cost of training search dogs which are used to assist mountain rescue teams in the Brecon Beacons and south Wales.

All of the dog handlers are unpaid volunteers. They train twice a month in various locations in south Wales no matter what the weather. It costs roughly £5,000 a year for each handler to train their searchdog, including the cost of travel, equipment and vets’ bills.

The dog handlers and their search dogs are on call at all times
