THE full line up for this year's Brecon Jazz Festival headlined by soul star Dionne Warwick has been revealed.

The programme, which has been put together in just a month by new organisers Orchard media group, features more than 20 gigs across a number of town centre venues.

Warwick, famed for her collaborations with Burt Bacharach that spawned hits such as Walk On By, will open the three day festival on Friday August 10 at the Market Hall.

The five-time Grammy Award winner, who is celebrating 50 years in the business and has sold 100 million records, is a cousin of the late R&B star Whitney Houston.

Jazz funk star Roy Ayers will also perform at the Market Hall in an exclusive UK appearance and legendary rock drummer Ginger Baker will also perform with tenor saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis for his Jazz Confusion show.

The programme has been put together by Welsh pianist Huw Warren and Orchard director Pablo Jancuzur.

Pablo said: "We've put together a bill that is attractive to both a local audience in Wales and to the legions of travelling fans who have made Brecon Jazz such a special, and economically beneficial event over the years. Given the time constraints, 2012 was always going to be an interim year, but we have well over 20 gigs in the classic Brecon town venues, with colour and atmosphere returning to the streets of this beautiful part of Wales."

The programme also features a commemorative concert for Jed Williams, the founder and artistic director of Brecon Jazz throughout much of its 28 year history, promoting Jazz4Jed, a bursary set up in his name to benefit Jazz talent in Wales, along with workshops held in Christ College.
