ANTIQUES and collectables gathered by Brecon’s mayor will be going under the hammer in the town.

Councillor David Meredith was moved to hold the charity auction after his father died last September.

"It is a house clearance as my father passed away last September.

"I used to do antique fairs so I have my old stock as well. I used to dabble in the antique trade and will be auctioning what’s in my father’s house where I also stored my stock."

Cllr Meredith’s father, John, lived at North Road in Brecon and died last September aged 91.

Members of the public can also donate items to the auction which will raise funds for the mayor’s charity appeal which is supporting the Nepal Earthquake Appeal, a children’s mental rehabilitation centre in Nepal and the South Powys Parkinson’s Society.

It takes place at the Guildhall on Wednesday, April 13 from 6pm and the lots will be available for viewing during the day and on Tuesday, April 12.

"It is my last fundraising event of my year as mayor," said Cllr Meredith.

Anyone who’d like to donate items for the auction can contact the Guildhall on 01874 622884 or email [email protected]
