This year’s Christmas extravaganza, Brecon with Bells On, will once again ring the season of goodwill into Brecon this year.
The event will take place in the streets of Brecon on Saturday, November 19, from 12 midday - 6pm.
There will be entertainment both on stage and on screen in the Bulwark from 12 midday, until the switching-on of the Christmas lights at 6pm.
Two marquees situated outside the Guildhall and St Mary’s Church, as well as stalls in the street, will be selling festive items and delicious refreshments. The Market Hall will house the monthly Craft Fair.
There will also be Santa’s Grotto at the Market Hall Vaults, children’s magic shows and pedal power Scalextric racing the Guildhall, arts and crafts sessions at y Gaer, and even a visit from a friendly polar bear. All of this entertainment will be of free of charge.
This year’s best dressed shop/business window competition theme is Climate Change. With everyone facing cost of living increases, upcycled decorations and using recycled materials is at the heart of this theme, and entertainment on the day will also be linked to climate change.
Judging for the window competition will take place after 12 midday on Wednesday, November 16 so Brecon Town Council asks to please have your windows ready by then.
This fabulous event brings the whole community together to show Brecon at its best and twinkling under the Christmas lights.
Anyone interested in participating or those who would like to have a stall should contact the town clerk, Fiona Williams on 01874 622884 or email [email protected].
The town council is also welcoming short video clips from local groups and organisations, showcasing what you do, or simply sending a Christmas message. Please send these in as soon as possible.
Brecon Town Council is funding free parking in the Watton long stay car park (near the bus station) in Brecon on Saturdays between now and March 25, 2023.
