NIGEL FARAGE’S new political party’s Brexit Bus has been photographed wedged into a lay-by on the A470 and unable to move.

The bus has been used over the past two weekends in the Brecon and Radnorshire by-election touring Brexit Party candidate Des Parkinson around the constituency.

But at some point on Saturday it became wedged into a lay-by at Nantddu, the tiny village just inside the Brecon and Radnorshire constituency, on the main road between Brecon and Merthyr Tydfil.

The bus was first spotted stuck in the lay-by on Saturday afternoon and had been there overnight.

Dr Greg Thomas, of Builth Wells was passing the lay-by as the bus was being recovered this morning shortly before 11am.

Among those to have spotted the bus was BBC weather presenter Sue Charles, from Llandrindod Wells.

She tweeted, just after midnight, that she was surprised to see the bus in the lay-by while driving on the main north to south Wales road on Saturday night, July 27.

She wrote on her @Sue_Charles Twitter account: "Driving through the Brecon Beacons tonight. Was expecting a few by-election posters, but surprised to see what looked like a Brexit Party bus, crashed into a hedge. Got out to check all was ok. No one around, just an abandoned bus, doors open, side-on, blocking a lay-by."

She added that she had called the police non emergency number 101 and Dyfed-Powys officers were aware of the bus.

It is unclear why the bus was stuck in the lay-by but it is possible it may have been attempting to turn in the lay-by and turn to head back north having reached the constituency, and county, boundary.

Some have claimed the bus’ fate is a reflection of Britain’s current political stalemate with Britain having failed to leave the European Union in part due to committed Brexiteers having refused to back a withdrawal agreement negotiated by former Conservative PM Theresa May.

Brexit Party candidate Des Parkinson said the bus is expected back on the campaign trail soon.He said: "We are very fond of Brexit Bus. After a great day across the constituency it developed a minor fault. We were dropped back in Brecon as planned. Then driver went on his way. "Apparently he pulled into a lay-by to check, then misjudged kerb height on a departing turn. Recovery was due that evening, but delayed and goodness knows why he left it open. "Pleased to say it has been recovered and Brexit Bus is on the road to recovery.”

The Brecon and Radnorshire by-election takes place this Thursday, August 1.

Also standing are Chris Davies (Conservative), Tom Davies (Labour), Jane Dodds (Liberal Democrats) and Lady Lily the Pink (Official Monster Raving Loony Party).
