KIRSTY Williams has taken the Deputy Minister for Skills and Technology for a tour of a Rural Technologies Wales (RTW) site so she could see the work it does on rural broadband.
Ms Williams invited Julie James to the Wern Watkin Youth Hostel at Llangattock Hillside.
The Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, said: “Rural broadband not spots are a huge issue locally and we know that the big providers are struggling to install super-fast broadband in some areas.
"Rural Technologies Wales is a great local company, based in Llangynidr that are helping to ensure that our most isolated areas have the 21st century technology we need to ensure a vibrant and successful rural economy.
“I was really pleased that Trevor Mosedale was able to show the Minister the excellent work he has done to connect areas without super-fast broadband.
“We know that providers like BT and Virgin will not ensure 100% provision of super-fast broadband. I want local Small companies like Rural Technologies Wales to be given a fair crack of the whip in bidding for the contracts to reach the parts of the countryside that the big providers won’t touch.
“This is great local solution to a local problem which will give a double boost to the rural economy."
