AN advertising agency founded in the Brecon Beacons has won the ‘Campaign Challenges Award’ at the PRCA Dare Awards 2018 for its work with the Paisley UK City of Culture 2021 – their second award win in quick succession for the campaign.
AM+A Marketing & Media Relations were particularly proud as the ‘Campaign Challenges’ category included some of the UK’s biggest PR agencies and high-profile campaigns for the FA Cup and Sony. The judges said: “We were impressed by a smaller agency working on a huge bid, reaching a national and international audience. The campaign engaged people and brought big players to the fore. It was a strong strategy with excellent execution.”
This is the second award for the Paisley UK City of Culture 2021 campaign, which picked up the CIPR Excellence award for ‘Arts, Culture or Sport Campaign 2018’ last month. The campaign has also been nominated for two Scottish CIPR ‘PRide’ awards in October.
AM+A were able to engage international media and A-list celebrity endorsement to take Paisley from serious underdogs to odds-on favourites with Ladbrokes in the days leading up to the announcement.
Frank Marr, who is from Aberbran and co-founded the PR agency in 2010, said: “Having started in the Brecon Beacons six years ago, it is thanks to the support of local businesses and Powys County Council that helped the business take-off and get to where it is today. We’re proud of the work that we do and of our Welsh origins.”
