IT’S been a very busy month for Brecknock YFC. The year kicked off with a ‘Have A Go’ Competition which was held on Friday, September 21 in Talgarth Hall kindly hosted by Llandefalle YFC. The federation was grateful to the judges for the evening, James Poulton and Gemma Bufton from Radnor YFC. Congratulations go to the winning team Pontfaen YFC.
The annual Lamb Trimming Competition was held on Sunday, September 23 at Llwynstyfelin, Sennybridge, by kind permission of Mr & Mrs H Harvard and Family. The sponsor was Steve Morgan’s Catering and Aled Groucott was the judge. Chrissy Davies of Llandefalle YFC won the Senior Section and Rory Owen, also a member of Llandefalle YFC, won the Junior section.
Brecknock YFC then held their County AGM on Thursday, September 27 at the Castle Hotel, Brecon. Mr John Price member of Sennybridge YFC was elected as County Chairman and Rebecca Prothero, a member of Libanus YFC, was elected as County Vice Chairman. The federation is grateful to Mark Powell for all his hard work over the years he has been involved with Brecknock YFC.
The carcass judging was held on Monday, October 1 at WJ George Butchers, Talgarth. George Butchers and Gwernyfed Rugby Club hosted the event, which was hosted by Welsh Farm Supplies. Cerys Pugh, Pontfaen YFC won the junior section and Elin Havard, Sennybridge YFC, won the senior section.
Stockman Day was held on Sunday, October 21 at Brecon Market by kind permission of McCartneys Auctioneers and the sponsor, once again, was NFU Cymru. Winners in the Stockman of the Year Awards were: Under 16 Chloe Edwards of Trecastle YFC; Under 18 Ffion Havard of Sennybridge YFC; Under 21 Elin Havard of Sennybridge YFC and Under 26 Christie Joseph of Llandefalle YFC. The overall winter stock-judging trophies were awarded to Dani Harley Builth Wells YFC and Elin Havard Sennybridge YFC.
This weekend Brecknock YFC will be holding Sheepdog Trails on Saturday by kind permission of the Protheroe Family, Cwmbryn, and the YFC’s Annual Eisteddfod Day will take place on Sunday 28 at Christ College, Brecon.
