THE Prince of Wales and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall have visited Brecon as part of their annual Welsh summer tour.

The Royal Couple viewed the Small Picture Show art exhibition at Brecon Cathedral - and even purchased some pieces for their private collections.

The exhibition is a fundraiser for the Cathedral's music appeal and the visit marked it reaching its £1 million target.

Prince Charles and his wife last visited the Cathedral in 2009 when the appeal was at the £500,000 mark.

Following the Cathedral visit Camilla toured respite and autism units at Ysgol Penmaes special school in Brecon and also visisted the nearby Canal Basin to mark the 200th anniversary of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.

While at the school the Duchess also unveiled a stained glass window, designed by pupils, to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
