PUPILS and staff at Mount Street Junior School have been working hard again this year to take part in the Royal Welsh Show wheelbarrow competition.
The competition’s theme this year was Roald Dahl and the children from Mount Street Juniors chose the theme of ‘James and the Giant Peach’, one of his best-known stories.
For research they read the story during lessons and did a variety of cross-curricular work, including writing letters to local shops and businesses asking for donations.
The school received help from The Old Railway Garden Centre in Three Cocks and Homebase in Brecon.
Amanda Davies, who was involved in the project, said she was impressed with how hard the children had worked and the ideas they came up with as well as their teamwork.
