A SCHOOL crossing patrol has been saved - after a local church offered to fund the lollipop lady.

Ilene Bradford, a caretaker at Presteigne Primary School, has also doubled up for many years as a lollipop lady at the Slough Lane site.

But as schools must fund patrols themselves the service could have been in doubt had Presteigne and Norton Town Council not agreed to cover half the cost of the school crossing patrol with Presteigne Baptist Church coming forward to cover the remaining amount.
