To celebrate St David’s Day last Friday, the Builth Wells Co-op Petrol station employees held a number of activities in the store.
Little Learners of Llanelwedd coloured a selection of Welsh-themed colouring sheets and there was a funny limerick competition for the members.
David and Elaine Price kindly judged the limericks and awarded three prizes.
First prize went to Ivor Weale for his limerick, which goes as follows:
A Co-op employee from Wales,
Had underwear made out of sails,
Amazing tough,
But the canvas was rough,
And they always came down during gales.
Second prize went to Carolyn Hughes and the third prize went to Sara Radziejowska.
The store manager Kerina Rees, Glen Weale Member Pioneer and Carol Allsopp, a Co-op member, all became Welsh ladies – Myfanwy, Blodwen and Ceinwen – for the day and wore their best Welsh outfits and treated the amused customers to a Welsh food-tasting session.
Pictured are some of those who took part in the fun, including: Ivor Weale, (winner of the limerick competition), Glen Weale, (who dressed up as Welsh woman Blodwen), Kerina Rees (who dressewd up as Myfanwy) and Carol Allsopp (Ceinwen) with the traditional Welsh products that they were selling at the Builth Wells Co-op petrol station on St David’s Day.
