A sponsored cycle ride from John O’Groats to Land’s End, over 1,000 miles, has made £2,098 for Brecon hospice Usk House.

David Hingley, 62, himself a cancer survivor, left John o’ Groats on July 13, and began pedalling south, carrying with him everything he needed for the trip, including his tent and cooking equipment. Despite being 14 years old his mountain bike kept going without incident and, exactly four weeks later, pulled up at Land’s End.

Sally Morris, fundraiser at the hospice, said, “Cycling all that way totally unsupported was a huge achievement, and the financial gain for the hospice was fantastic. I am looking forward to hearing what David’s next challenge is going to be!”
