Llangynidr Primary School has been successful in the second annual South Wales primary schools bouldering contest.
The competition, which was held on March 16, took place at Cragfit climbing centre in Ebbw Vale, with five schools taking part.
Llangynidr won the overall team contest, as well as nine individual awards. Three of these were awards for first place, with Connie Spalding winning the year 3 girls’ category, Sarah Spalding first for year 4 girls and Ferdie Thewes first for year 4 boys.
The school also took home four second places, with Cerys Griffiths second in the year 3 girls’ category, Emily Cooper-Jones second for year 4 girls, Ferdi Freeman second for year 4 boys and Stella Thewes for year 6 girls.
Finally, they won two third places, with Roscoe Gibson third in year 3 boys and Adam Oliver third in year 5 boys. This is the second year in a row that Llangynidr Primary School has won the overall school cup.
Bouldering is a form of rock climbing on small rock formations or artifical rock walls.
