GWERNYFED High School pupil Eva Meredith’s vision for peace saw her succeed in an art competition.

Eva’s peace poster was judged to the best entry in in the initial regional round with Eva’s poster judged in third place in the later rounds.

The International Peace Poster competition is organised by the Lions International with the local Black Mountains Club encouraging entries from Gwernyfed High School.

Second prize in the regional competition went Georgia Allen, also from Gwernyfed.

Cheryl Hyde, of the Black Mountains Club, said: "Well done both and thanks to their art teacher Kayleigh Hughes for all her hard work and encouragement."

The competition encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace. During the last 21 years, more than four million children from nearly 100 countries have participated in the contest.

Students aged 11 to 13 are eligible to participate.

Twenty-four international finalists are selected each year, representing the work of more than 350,000 young participants worldwide. Posters are shared globally via the internet, the media and exhibitions around the world.
