A FORMER train driver was really chuffed after picking up a prestigious award for his new career in care.

Cheery Gary Bastable left life aboard the Heathrow Express for a new halt in Mid Wales - and now has an extra reason to smile.

Gary was one of the worthy recipients of this year's Wales Care Awards, presented to unsung heroes whose commitment to looking after the vulnerable is so vital.
