A FAMILY from Birmingham were slapped with fines after being caught climbing a mountain in the Brecon Beacons over the weekend.

Police also ordered the clan to drive the 120 or so miles back home after officers spotted them heading back down Pen y Fan on Sunday.

Officers from Dyfed-Powys Police had a busy weekend patrolling the area’s roads and making sure people weren’t flouting lockdown rules.

They stopped the drivers of two luxury Lamborghinis, pictured right, for being out on a non-essential journey and reported them for Construction and Use offences.

A Subaru Impreza, pictured below, was also pulled over on the A470 at Brecon with the driver reported for not displaying the car’s front registration plate.

Police officers stopped a BMW X5 on the A40 at Bwlch on Sunday and discovered the driver had no licence or insurance.

And just a few moments later, a Nissan was pulled over for the same offences.

Both drivers were reported and both vehicles were recovered by police.

Tickets were also handed to a number of people, who travelled for well over an hour for a stroll around the Brecon Beacons.

Officers also issued a warning on social media that numerous groups of motorcyclists and cars had been entering the Dyfed-Powys force area from England.

A spokesman stressed: "Wales is still in lockdown following Welsh Government COVID-19 advice.

"Please stay at home and essential journeys only."

The latest wave of people flouting the lockdown measures comes as Dyfed-Powys Police revealed 220 fines had been issued to rule-breakers over the early May Bank Holiday weekend.
