IN excess of 300 members of Radnor YFC competed over a two day Field Day event hosted by Edw Valley YFC.
The first day of competitions were held at Bryncoch, Hundred House by kind permission of the Nixon family.
Members competed in a Farm Efficiency with Safety competition where they showed their skills in welding, abrasive wheel, ATV and first aid. The competition was sponsored by Paul Davies and Grant Rowlands and the overall winners were Edw Valley YFC.
On the same day members from across Radnor gathered to compete against each other in the first county sheepdog trials for many years.
The trials were held at Graig yr Onnen Farm, Hundred House by kind permission of John and Diane Davies
Members were extremely lucky to be able to compete on a course designed for the National Sheepdog trials. Gareth Morris sponsored the event and the overall winner was Ben Owen, Dolau YFC who will now go on to represent Radnor in the All Wales Sheepdog Trials.
Day two of the weekend was held at Hendy Farm, Hundred House kindly hosted by the Williams family and sponsored by Njord Energy.
Clubs competed against each other in a vast variety of competitions from cookery, flower arranging, disco dancing, jump rope, lamb trimming and the ever-popular fencing competition.
Once again a record number of entries were received in the fencing competition and 18 teams competed against each other to win the coveted title.
Fencing netting was kindly sponsored for the event by Estate Wire, ArcelorMittal.
Radnor Valley YFC won the Junior Fencing title and Rhayader YFC retained their title as Senior fencing champions.
After a long weekend of competition the overall winners were announced as Radnor Valley YFC with Teme Valley YFC coming runners up by just five marks and closely followed in third place by Aberedw YFC.
