A fantastic show of lambs was met with strong trade, particularly on those over 44 kilograms and heavier weights. This week’s averages compare well to 2024, when trade averaged 299pok.

Please note, from this week English-only vendors will no longer be accepted due to Bluetongue Virus (BTV) regulations. Cross-border holdings are advised to contact McCartneys for guidance. Kington Market shares the same buyer base as Knighton, and vendors are encouraged to support both venues.

Ewes (259) averaged £130.04, with the top price of £214 for Texel cross ewes from Bowood Farms. Mule ewes sold to £175 from C & L Bowen, while hill-bred Welsh ewes reached £134 from R J Lewis. Rams topped at £177 for a Texel from M G & E S Lewis.

The ewe trade remains buoyant despite a slightly lighter overall strength, with a good mix of Mule, half-meated, and grazing types on offer. Demand remains strong across all breeds, conditions, and sizes.

Vendors are asked to book ewe entries on Wednesdays to help notify buyers of expected numbers.
