BRECON’S Paralympic gold medallist Rob Davies has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s new year’s honours list.
Rob, who struck gold at the Rio Paralympics, was recognised for his services to table tennis.
He took up wheelchair table tennis after breaking his neck playing rugby for Brecon in 2005.
Also recognised in the honours was Helena Rebecca Herklots, of Hay-on-Wye, who was named a CBE. She is the chief executive of the Carers UK charity and was honoured for services to carers.
Huw Lloyd Jones also received an MBE for his services to the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team.
Paul Andrew Raymond-Barker, of Erwood, was awarded an BEM for services to forestry and silvicuture in Wales.
