FLORAL tributes have been left in Brecon to a man who died after being found unconscious in the public toilets in the town centre.

More than 40 bouquets of flowers have been left around the town to remember the 31-year-old father Garry Shearer who it is understood was homeless and slept rough.

The largest collection of flowers and balloons have been left on railings outside the toilets on Lion Yard where Garry was found unconscious at around 6.40pm on Tuesday, July 2.

Flowers have also been left at the bench outside Lloyds Bank, on High Street, which is one of the locations where around the town centre where Garry would be often spend his days.

Charlie Ward, of the nearby The Cafe, is among those to have paid tribute. She said: "We were friends, I saw him most days and sometimes he would help me with the cafe. He really was a people person."

Dyfed-Powys Police, which is investigating the death, has arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with Mr Shearer’s death.

A spokeswoman for the Powys coroner said an inquest has been opened and adjourned and the cause of death is un-ascertained.
