Brecon mum-of-three Caroline Frampton is raising money for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity by trekking across the Sahara Desert.

The keen baker and owner of ‘Caroline’s Real Bread Company’ has fostered over 70 children with her husband, from newborn to teenagers, as well as having her own son fall ill at nine days old, and has said how useful a charity like Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital would have been to her at that time.

“A large part of my life has been about caring/supporting children and their families. I am mum to three sons and when one of the boys was nine days old, he fell ill with sepsis. He only survived thanks to the skill of the doctors and nurses. It would have made a world of difference to me if there had been a Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital offering support all those years ago.” said Caroline.

Having just recently been made a Noah’s Ark Charity ambassador, Caroline will be doing the trek not only to support her chosen charity, but to celebrate her birthday. She said: “Choosing to raise money for the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity was an easy decision. Last year, I took part in their Great Welsh Walk where I met members of the team and learned so much about the work the charity does and the difference it makes to children and families.  I wanted to offer my support.”

The charity not only supports the only children’s hospital for Wales, it helps fund the best equipment that saves lives and makes treatment an easier process for young patients. They also fund facilities to ensure families can spend quality time together, and offer support services to help the hospital experience less stressful.

Linda Davies, the Noah’s Ark Charity head of events, said “Amazing people like Caroline are vital in our mission to help provide the best treatment and outcome possible for the 73,000 children treated at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales each year. We are so pleased to have her as an ambassador and want to thank her for everything she has done and continues to do for us. We want to wish her all the best for her trek and encourage people to sponsor her if they can!”

Caroline’s fundraiser has currently raised just over £500 for the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity, and you can sponsor her using the following link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/caroline-frampton60

Cradoc CP School teacher Beth Roberts has also taken part in the journey across the Sahara during this week's half term holiday and raising money for the school playground and library, and her total currently stands at just over £1,100.
