A UNION representing staff at Brecon Leisure Centre claims its members only discovered the building faces demolition after reading The Brecon & Radnor Express.
We reported last week that the Penlan centre could be bulldozed to make way for a £75 million Brecon Learning Campus - combining a high school, further education collage and a new leisure centre.
Margaret Thomas, trade union Unison's Welsh secretary, blasted: "We are disgusted that members of leisure centre staff have had to find out that their place of work is to be demolished via their local newspaper."
Unison has since said its members are 'optimistic' about the proposed redevelopment but criticised the council, saying it had failed to keep staff informed.
The council said plans are at early stage and still being finalised before they are submitted to the Welsh Government for funding.
It said a 'comprehensive' consultation with the community and stakeholders, including staff, is due to be carried out in the autumn.
