BEAGLE Kiera sought shade from the sun in the flower marquee at the Royal Welsh Show as temperatures on the showground reached 28 degrees celsius.

The Royal Welsh Show is closing today after four days of competition, fun and discussion centred around Welsh agriculture, the countryside and its future.

But Kiera the beagle was oblivious to that as she rested in the horticultural tent where she has spent the week with owner Nigel Hewitt-Cooper.

He has been exhibiting his fly-trap, or carnivorous plants, at the show something he has done for 18 years.

The Glastonbury resident is also a regular exhibitor at the Chelsea and Hampton Court flower shows but said Kiera, who has won her admission badge from her collar, only accompanies him to Llanelwedd.

"The others are far too busy shows and she’s too much of a nuisance," said Nigel.

"We’ve been here all week it is always a good, friendly show and I’ve always liked it."
