A NEWLYWED has been banned from contacting his wife who he married less than three months ago.
Harry McNeil wed his childhood sweetheart Bronwen Phillips on November 1 but soon started a relationship with the hairdresser from the wedding. Police became involved after the 23-year-old attempted to reconcile with his wife - despite having been warned not to contact her.
He admitted harassment without violence before magistrates in Brecon and was made subject to a restraining order when he appeared for sentence on Thursday, January 22.
Prosecutor Julie Sullivan told the court how the defendant had sent texts to the victim begging for her forgiveness following their separation two weeks after their November 1 wedding. Despite being warned by Ms Phillips' solicitor the defendant attended at her property and began banging the letterbox and pushing the door in an attempt to get in.
Magistrates handed McNeil a nine month community order with six months supervision and a requirement he attend the respectful relationships course. The restraining order prevents McNeil from contacting Ms Phillips by any means or from attending at her home.
He must also undertake 100 hours unpaid work and pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge, which he agreed to do at a rate of £20 a fortnight.
