James Evans has sought an assurance from the Welsh Government that changes planned for workplace recycling will not present difficulties for local businesses.
The Brecon and Radnorshire MS said at the Senedd that new regulations will come in next April, and that he has met businesses in his constituency that are concerned about them.
He said: “They are concerned that, with the bins that are going to be required, they won't have the space to put them in their premises.
“I also met recycling companies who are concerned about the number of additional lorries they're going to have to put on in, especially, rural areas, to pick all this waste up, which will be detrimental to the environmental challenges we face.
“The consultation asked for a phased approach to the implementation of this.”
Mr Evans asked First Minister, Mark Drakeford, if the Welsh Government will look at this again and work with the recycling industry to make sure there is no disruption to businesses in his constituency.
Mr Drakeford said the new workplace recycling regulations will require workplaces to separate key recyclable materials in the same way that households already do across most of Wales.
