Penybont & District Community Centre’s management committee has secured a Big Lottery grant to offer the young people of Penybont & District the chance to take part in a new experience.

Former Penybont resident and pupil at Llandrindod High School Sian Haslock is a trapeze and aerial performer. She runs her own performance company Abbozzo Arts as well as Manchester-based circus training company The Circus House.

She will be bringing a portable trapeze rig and circus equipment to Penybont & District Community Centre for a weekend of workshops on 28 and 29 November 28&29.

Sian runs a popular and successful youth circus in Manchester and has long wanted to give young people in rural Mid Wales the chance to experience trapeze.

“Everyone enjoyed the Penybont Circus event held at the Community Centre in 2011 and thanks again to the Big Lottery this event promises to be just as exciting, fun and enjoyable,” said Sian.

Young people from the Penybont & District area aged from six to 18 are invited to take part in the event which will involve trapeze and circus workshops on the Saturday and Sunday before an afternoon show on the 29th in which the participants will have the opportunity to exhibit their new skills to family and friends and in which Sian herself will demonstrate her own aerial skills on the trapeze.

Penybont & District Community Centre management committee will be contacting as many local families as possible about the event, and more details are available from the secretary on 01597 851556.
