Members of McCartneys’ Brecon and Builth teams have made the long trek to the summit of Snowdon to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Darren Thomas and Sharon Prytherch, from Brecon, took part in the walk along with their families and McCartneys staff from other branches on Sunday.

Jeff Williams, Sharon Pritchard and Gill McNaughton from the Builth branch were also part of the team who made it to the top, despite difficult conditions.

Ms Pritchard said: "It was pretty rough going with the wet weather but we got there."

Eleven people in total completed the challenge, which Ms Prytherch described as the "hardest she had ever done". She said: "It was a challenge but it was really good and for a great cause."

Every year McCartneys takes part in an event to raise money for a chosen charity. Last year staff walked up Pen y Fan in aid of the Wales Air Ambulance. This year the team decided to raise the stakes by taking on the challenge of Snowdon.

Darren said: "It was more of a challenge than I expected. I’ve been up the Beacons lots of time but this was a different world."

The team have estimated that have already raised around £1,200 for their chosen charity.
