A MOTHER has blasted a group of off-road bikers for causing damage at stretch of protected woodland near her home in Gladestry.
She claims two groups of bikers ripped around the woodland area over the weekend and wrecked some man-made steps, making them unsafe to use.
The woman, who gave her name but didn’t want it published, said she had reported the unruly bikers’ behaviour to Dyfed-Powys Police.
A force spokesman confirmed they had been contacted about the incident and urged anyone with information about people breaching coronavirus restrictions in the area to report it.
The mum told the Brecon and Radnor Express: "At the moment the footpath is too dangerous to walk down because they have damaged the steps.
"A lot of the steps have been broken or completely demolished and now it is just a steep and muddy slope.
"They have ruined the footpath. The photos do not do it any justice, they don’t show just how bad it is."
This isn’t the first time the concerned resident has been forced to call the police about anti-social bikers.
The woman explained: "I have reported this to police as I did two years ago when bikers scared five ponies, making them gallop off, throwing their riders including my daughters, aged eight at the time.
"She broke her arm and has never ridden since."
She claimed that near enough every other weekend during the summer, the village is swamped with off-road bikers.
The mum explained: "I have been in several near misses with them. I am frightened to death to let my little girl play outside because they just put their foot down.
"It is not acceptable.
"My daughter is petrified of them because of the horse incident. People need to be aware of what is going on because it is not fair."
The Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: "If anyone has information about people breaching Covid-19 restrictions, causing criminal damage or displaying anti-social behaviour in the area of woodland, they can report it via our website."
