HAY-ON-WYE Paralympic champion Josie Pearson has capped her golden year with a a New Year's Honour.

The 26-year-old discus champion was named an MBE in the honours, admitting she was taken by surprise by the royal recognition.

Brecon and Radnorshire Liberal Democrat MP Roger Williams was awarded the CBE and Grenville Ham, from Brecon, awarded a British Empire Medal, for his work establishing the Green Valleys sustainable energy project.
