A COUNTRY park in the Brecon Beacons is having to be closed at night due to a number of break-ins at buildings.

The Brecon Beacons National Park has said it is now closing the gates to the Craig Y Nos Country Park at 8pm every night.

The park authority has a number of buildings on the site of the country park which is on the A4067 road.

A spokeswoman said: "Recently three break-ins have taken place at Craig y Nos Country Park, one of these included a theft from a charitable organisation who work in conjunction with the authority.

"All have been reported to the police and we are aware that further break-ins have taken place across the upper Swansea Valley.

"Due to this behaviour a decision has been taken to permanently close the gates of Craig Y Nos Country Park park between 8pm and 8am. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause. The park will continue to be open every day 8am – 8pm."
