Last Saturday, October 16 a presentation and unveiling of a plaque took place at the Dolwen Field, Llawrtyd Wells.
Present at the event were the Dolwen Field Recreation For All Committee, The Mayor Jim Davies, County Councillor Tim Van-Rees, a group of visiting cyclists and Paul Carroll of Welding Mid-Wales, Rhayader who designed and built the beautiful metal arch that sits at the entrance to the Coronation Drive in the park.
The cyclists who have made generous donations to the Dolwen Project have been coming to Llanwrtyd during the month of October for nearly 30 years, and every year they stay at the Drovers Inn in Llanwrtyd.
One of their group, Steve Ashmore, sadly died on a ride at Cynghordy in 1994.
After the presentation the group cycled to the memorial to Steve at Cynghordy to lay some flowers in memory of their friend.
