The fourth Talgarth Walking Festival runs from April 29 until May 2 and offers a varied programme with something for everyone.
If you’ve always wanted to walk up the escarpment of the Black Mountains but felt a little daunted by the rugged terrain now’s your chance. Or if a quieter saunter is more your cup of tea - with a cup of tea included in several instances - take a browse through the brochure.
The festival starts with a free talk by archaeologist Bill Britnall about the burial tombs in the Black Mountains. Bill will lead a walk on Saturday, April 30 to explore one of these at nearby Penywyrlodd.
There will also be a walk with local author Owen Sheers through the Olchon valley. This stunning landscape formed the backdrop for his book Resistance.
Owen will introduce a screening of the film on Saturday evening at Talgarth Town Hall. It will be a chance to spot familiar landmarks while being swept up by the compelling story.
Garden, nature, history and photography walks are also in the packed programme, as well as a pub quiz, a chance to learn about orienteering and a children’s walk.
Organisers have even included a map-reading course so that next year you can perhaps become a walk leader yourself and help to make the walking festival a resounding success.
