Police are investigating after a man was found in his flat with serious head injuries after a night out in Brecon.

Police cars and a police van were called to flats opposite the Peace Garden in the Watton on Saturday morning at 10.15am.

An air ambulance was also summoned but the man, said to be in his mid 20s, was taken to hospital in a land ambulance.

A barperson in the nearby Clarence Inn pub said: "We’ve heard that a young male has been taken to hospital with head injuries - but that’s all we know."

Police officers spent most of the afternoon making inquiries at the flats while an officer stood guard at the entrance to the premises.A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson confirmed officers were carrying out extra patrols in the town. She said: “Dyfed-Powys Police were called to a property on the Watton in Brecon at 10:15am this morning, Saturday 16th February 2019. "The male occupant had suffered a head injury which required him to be taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment. "The male’s condition is described as stable and officers are continuing to make enquiries as to the cause of the injury. "Extra patrols are being conducted in the area as enquiries continue.”
