Children at schools across Brecon and Radnorshire held their own events to raise money for BBC Children in Need.

This year’s appeal, which was televised live on Friday, November 16, raised a record total of £50.6 million and took the all time total of money raised to more than £1 billion.

Helping to swell that total were children at Llangynidr Primary School who sold tickets for a raffle to win a giant teddy bear. These tickets, which will still be on sale until midday tomorrow (November 23) are 50p each. So far they have raised over £200.

Pupils at Crickhowell Community Primary School wore spotty T-shirts and pyjamas and painted spots on their faces. They also brought in donations and bought Children in Need merchandise to raise £550.

It was a similar situation at Mount Street Junior School in Brecon where the school council urged their fellow pupils to wear something spotty and bring in a £1 donation for squash and biscuits. They also organised activities such as ‘Knock Pudsey off the Shy’, ‘Pudsey Bowling’, ‘Pin the Patch on Pudsey’ and ‘Pudsey Hoopla’. A group of Year 6 children danced to ‘This is Me’ from the Greatest Showman

There was also a competition to design a new outfit for Pudsey Bear and children brought in loose change to put on a picture of him. Altogether the school raised £229.51.

Meanwhile youngsters at Sennybridge School also got in the act after celebrating the harvest at St Cynogs Church and donating items for Brecon’s food bank.
