BRECON'S annual celebration of its Gurkha company has taken place amidst the spectre of redundancies among the regiment.
The Gurkha Company (Mandalay) marched through Brecon to accept a salute from the Mayor during the annual Gurkha Freedom Parade on Sunday, September 4. A day earlier their Dering Lines base opened its doors to the public for the Gurkha Durbar, a celebration of the regiment's Nepalese culture.
But the celebrations took place against the backdrop of redundancies with the UK Government having announced 920 members of the British Army are being made redundant.
