A RETIRING headteacher has warned of an 'inevitable' fall in exam results in Wales when compared to England.

John Hopkins, who stood down following 17 years as the head of Gwernyfed High School in Three Cocks spoke out when he retired following GCSE results day last Thursday, August 25.

Pupils at the school, near Hay-on-Wye, achieved its best ever GCSE results, with 76.8 per cent of them achieving the Level 2 threshold of at least five GCSE passes at grades A* to C or an equivalent qualification.
