LORRAINE and Mike Lewis from Llanfrynach are opening their garden to the public this Sunday to raise money for St David’s Hospice Care.

The couple’s two-acre garden, in a picturesque setting by the River Usk, provides much to interest serious garden enthusiasts as well as those looking for an enjoyable way to pass an afternoon. The garden features a steep bank with grasses and perennials, colourful flower and rose borders, topiary, specimen trees and a rose pergola.

The couple moved into the property, called Glanusk, in 2001, when Mike says it was a ‘blank canvas’. Lorraine said: “Our greatest strength is our neighbour Derek Harris who has been promoted to head gardener. This has allowed Mike to be demoted to under gardener because he never does what he’s told!”

“We’re looking forward to the day immensely,” said Mike, “and hope to make lots of money for Hospice at Home care in the Brecon area.”

Glanusk Garden, Llanfrynach, will be open from 11am-5pm on Sunday, June 24. Entry will be £5 per adult, with children free.
