Emergency services were called after a tanker carrying 18 tonnes of acid got stuck on a hill last night.

Two fire crews and police were called to the lorry on Steeple Hill, near Builth Wells, and the road was closed for nearly five hours.

Brecon Fire Station Station tweeted about the lorry just after midnight: “10P1 called out with 14P1 to a tanker carrying 18 tonnes of acid stuck on Steeple Hill near Builth Wells. Road closure in place.”

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said the force had also been called to attend the lorry which had broken down.

She said: “Police were called just before 8.30pm on Wednesday, November 20, to a report of a lorry broken down on a hill on the B4520 between Builth Wells and Llanddewi’r Cwm.

“The road was closed and reopened just before 1am on Thursday, November 21. No injuries were reported. No spillages reported.”
